This project deals with the visual perception in ecstasy dance. The theoretical basis is the dance „Turning Monotony“ developed by the expressionist dancer Mary Wigman in 1926. Here, the monotony of movement, visuality, and auditory gong are the main means which allow her to enter a trance-like state. As well my own experience as this performance and the research provided the inspiration to make this change of consciousness artistically perceivable. This is achieved by four different peep-boxes that visually after perception through darkness, distortion, infinity and iridescence. In addition, a monotonously composed piece of music complements the experience.
